Basics in raising a Protection / Guard Dog puppy
VS
Buying a fully trained Protection Dog / Security Dog
It takes a lot more than most people would ever dream of to raise a truly trained Protection Dog. It all starts with genetics and from there you have to be able to pick the right puppy from the litter. Sure, the breeder can help in most cases, but what if they don't have much experience. Just buying a Doberman, Rottweiler, German Shepherd or a Belgian Malinois does not mean your going to have a Protection Dog or a Security Dog when it grows up.
It starts at a very young age with "imprinting" , which uses the dogs natural ability to develop its capabilities. That is only the first step in Protection Dog training. Developing focus and drive are necessary steps in raising a Protection Dog. Bite development is also very important. The dog must have a full bite (grip) each and every time.
Putting all of these steps together and developing each to the best of the dog's ability are essential in raising a Protection Dog. Also, Protection Dog and Security Dog training requires very little control and minimal corrections, as you are looking for the most power from the dog.
